Israel, as you may know,  is a state of immigrants : it embodies a unique mix of diverse culture from all over the world. One of the most wonderful expressions of this cultural diversity is the oriental influences that find an expression in jewelry design.

Hamsa hand is an oriental luck charm. Hamsa is in fact a Semitic name, meaning five in Arabic. You can read more about the meaning of Hamsa in different culture. In the last centuries, many Jewish communities thrives in Arabs states, as Morocco, Iraq and Yemen. Today, I’d like to show you an intriguing design hat carries Yemenite influences.

As you can see, contemporary Israeli designers combine ancient traditions from their homeland with current motifs from the Israeli scenery such as images of the old city of Jerusalem.
